Yes; it is and has been the greatest deception in 232 years upon white Australian settlement ~~ not to mention the destruction and stealth of the thousands of years of the Aboriginal nation which is another historically important but separate matter which proceeded and succeeded the politics of the Australian white man settlement in 1788.

This deception illustrates the fact the white people of Australia have virtually never owned or governed their nation in their own right ~~ and that applies to this day.

Political honesty was an illusion of many early Australians as they were been deceivingly led to believe while at first occupied in overcoming the stigma of first being convicts in a penal settlement, then as free settlers engaged in gaining land and material possessions of resources such as gold and other less precious minerals and resources including natural fresh water and high quality timber ~~ then came coal and iron ore.

From the beginning, the boundless expansion of the merino sheep soon provided thousands then millions of bales of fine wool that was pulled over the eyes of the work and wealth seekers which blinding them from observing the greed of the foreign financiers and corporate elite who had tightened their grip upon the nation with their insisted upon foreign titled political appointments to governance.

Although form early settlement there was an element of so called self-government of the people from the collection of six colonies of this southern land, all colonies were under the law-making power of the British Parliament and this continued for 112 years to 1900.

Then by the 1890s a number of forward thinking statesmen begun to see the need for a nation owned government firstly for the defence of the nation against the rising influence of non-commonwealth foreign powers and secondly because of export trade and the shipping coordination of this growing volume of primary production.

In 1901 the six colonies voted in a referendum for Federation which gave birth to the “Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act of 1901 (UK) 63 & 64 Victoria Ch 12”, and the deceptive illusion of self government for Australia began its tantalised illusion of independence as a nation ~~ still a nation very mush linked to the United Kingdom and Queen Victoria.

This illusion was further facilitated since 1901 with the appointment of 22 of the 25 Governor Generals having British Titles of Knighthoods, Barons, with one Dame, and one Church of England Archbishop ~~ the exceptions were Hayden in 1989, Jefferies in 2003 and Hurley in 2019.
